Privacy policy

1. Controller

2. Hosting
This website is hosted by Host Europe GmbH, Hansestraße 111, 51149 Köln, Germany. The servers are located in Strasbourg (France), i.e. within the European Union; no data is transferred to third countries. A data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
3. Server log files
Each visit automatically records access data in server log files (including IP address, date/time, requested address, browser/operating system, referrer). Purpose: technical operation, security, error analysis. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Log files are rotated daily and deleted automatically after 14 days at the latest; IP addresses are shortened during rotation. When you search for a place, the search text is part of the requested address and therefore also appears in the log files.
4. No cookies, no analytics
Mautkompass does not use cookies or any analytics, tracking or advertising services. There are no user accounts.
5. Local storage in your browser
In your browser's localStorage we only store your consent to loading the Google Maps map (see no. 8). The results of the current session (including HERE results, see no. 7) are kept in sessionStorage and deleted when you close the tab. This data does not leave your device. Legal basis: section 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG (strictly necessary).
6. Route and toll calculation
For a calculation you send start, destination, any stops and the vehicle details (e.g. weight, axles, emission class) to our server. Routing and place search run on our own server (openrouteservice and Photon with OpenStreetMap data); no data is passed to third parties. Results are cached for up to 24 hours without reference to your person so that identical requests are answered faster. If no route can be found, we keep the coordinates and vehicle details (without IP address) for error analysis for at most 14 days. To prevent overload we count requests per IP address; this counter is deleted after one hour. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) and (f) GDPR.
7. Exact toll via HERE (on click only)
For countries without our own tariff data you can request a calculation from HERE with the button “Calculate exact toll for …”. Our server then sends start, destination, stops and vehicle details to HERE Global B.V., Kennedyplein 222-226, 5611 ZT Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Your IP address is not passed on to HERE. The result is shown only to you and is not stored on our server. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.
8. Map display (Google Maps)
We use Google Maps (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; transfer to the USA possible) to display the map and routes. Loading the map transmits your IP address, among other data, to Google. The map is only loaded after your active consent: until then a placeholder with a “Load map” button is shown. Your consent is stored locally in your browser and can be withdrawn by deleting the site data. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and section 25 (1) TDDDG (consent). 9. Fonts
We use the fonts “DM Sans” and “Archivo”. They are served exclusively from our own server; no connection to Google servers is made.
10. Your rights
You have the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21 GDPR). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future. A message to the address under “Controller” is sufficient.
11. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Alt-Moabit 59-61, 10555 Berlin, Germany.
12. Updates
We adapt this privacy policy when the law or our services change. Last updated: November 2026.
